Subject: find a toy

Hi my name is Maureen,

on valentines day my husband went for a walk at the beach at Werribee south whilst I was visiting with my daughter and grandchildren.

He returned home with a lovely heart cushion with little hearts of many colors stitched on it, I thought he had bought it for me for valentines day, but alas as he told us his tale of finding it tied to a picnic table (and I admonished him for pinching someone's valentine), but after logging on to your web site I am delighted to relay his story. several people approach the cushion and read the tag, one lady even commented that it may be a bomb, they all walk on and left it behind, My hubby squeezed it determined it was not a bomb and brought it home for our 10 week old granddaughter. So when she is older we will tell her the story of how she came to have this special cushion thanks to her Poppadon, and the generosity of a special person out there.

Maureen.

subjectDoll found in Blackwells- Oxford- UK

Dear Toy Society,

Today, while my baby son and I were escaping the house and leaving the tears and frustration of the lost hours of sleep and the hours of jiggling and rocking behind, I spotted a very lovely and very lost 'mummy' doll in Blackwells, the Bookshop in Oxford, UK.

That little 'mummy' doll put a smile on my face, and made me realise how special the job of parenting is, and how special each little boy and girl is. The 'mummy' doll is now a member of our family, and she is a reminder of how the world is full of love and mystery and excitement! She will accompany my son in his voyage through the world of growing up.

Thank you for cheering up a new mother who is still teaching her little one how to sleep and eat and love.....

With much gratitude.

Kate.

What a gorgeous and wonderful thing! I felt so lucky to be the one to pick up this beautifully made owl. My 3 children were enchanted with 'Owl' and I'm so pleased they got to experience such a lovely random act of kindness in these times of deliberately lit bushfires and fathers throwing children off bridges. I'm afraid it's all been a bit too much for them to process.

Owl will be treasured in our happy home forever, along with the story of how she came to be.

thank you very much.

subjectPink Bear at the Rowayton Library

I just wanted to say that it was the most wonderful surprise to find this little pink bear outside the Library door amidst the soon to be growing pink roses. I am going to display him at the Library tomorrow during our Tuesday Tea @ 2pm with a little blurb about The Toy Society. What a wonderful way to spread joy. I know that I have really felt joy today in spying this little guy. And, thank you Jane, for making him.

Thank you.

subjectFound: Valentine's day drop 15 Winchester England

Found this lovely soft toy in Winchester while my friends and I were on a murder mystery weekend- I was the only one brave enough to pick it up! Children were admiring it as I carried it around all morning. Couldn't part with it but may start making my own.
Thanks!

subjectrescued for Ruby

Hi The Toy Society,
I have rescued an extremely cute doll with 'love' blanket from Mowbray Park in Brisbane.
I have to say it made my day to come across this very sweet surprise.
I am presently completely broke and had to work yesterday in the city and then (without enough fare for transport) had to walk around ten kms to get home - and on the way home was almost run over by two cars. Needless to say I was feeling pretty down (being valentines day and single and all) - and then loh!
This very generous act of yours has been transfered on to Ruby (my mate's daughter) who is having her 6th birthday party today - she loves her new doll and 'blanky'.
Many thanks
Ian XXX

subjectwe found a toy!

Hi to all at The Toy Society!

I came with my 10 y.o. daughter Eleanor, to the library at Winchester, Hampshire today at 11a.m. We came in by the new cafe entrance, and there on the bench, just outside was a bag containing a little pink toy!

He doesn't have an ID #, but is very soft, rectangular, pink with brown hearts and patterned lines, a square pink face in the middle of his body and two little pink stumpy hands.

At first my daughter was unsure if we should take him, maybe it was a trick? But I'd heard of a similar project where books get left in different places round the world for people to pick up and enjoy, so had a bit more confidence that it was genuine.

My daughter was delighted! She had an operation 5 days ago and this was the first time she'd felt well enough to go out. She had been feeling fed up, bored and lonely without her school chums, so she really felt as if the toy was meant for her. She has called him Rogg.

We think the project is such a gorgeous idea! I do a lot of knitting and crochet...would love to get involved and make a toy for someone else...please let me know how to get started.

Thanks so much,

Joanne & Eleanor, Winchester, Hampshire, England.
