Drop #5
Dropped: Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada
Number of toys: 3 - dropped at the Joe Lake Camp Site, Joe Lake Portage and the Portage Store parking lot on Canoe Lake
Made by: Meeka, "Titanium Hip"
Dropped by: Meeka
When: 1st July 2008
And: This drop was the first test for The Toy Society going global. It was in a place I had never thought the Toy Society would go as I'd always imagined the project being an urban thing. But you know what, I love it and with so many people wanting to get involved the project is taking on new shapes I never could have imagined. So, with this drop down I'm getting closer to finalising details for all of you to do this too. Thanks Meeka!

awesome! I can't wait to do some drops in my area.
Yah! How cool is that!

Your toy drop program sounds like a great idea, although in Algonquin Park it would be considered littering. Every year we organize a spring group to pick up trash, this year we removed 40+ bags of trash. My hope is that someone will pick these up soon and enjoy your efforts. Checking with the park may be the better plan before leaving anything in the park as a fine could result from this. The best plan is to always leave nothing behind when visiting the wilderness.
Hopefully the Toys were seen as just that Toys and not litter...
I guess I never really thought of it as litter because I hadn't just thrown it on the ground but rather took the time to choose my spot, and put it in a location that it would be found.
Also...hopefully the bright paper and toys would make someone smile, rather then just want to throw it out.
I will check with the park before dropping it next time.
